Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse pulls in hundreds of different spider-people from hundreds of different universes, including the now-beloved LEGO Spider-Man.

As it turns out, the LEGO Spider-Man found in the new Spider-Verse movie isn’t an original instance of the character. Instead, the blocky version of Peter Parker seen in the movie is taken from Travellers Tales’ LEGO Marvel video games.

As pointed out on Twitter, the LEGO wallcrawler that you see in the movie does have a universe number attributed to him. During the scene when Miles enters the Spider-Nexus, the LEGO Peter Parker can be seen on top of Peter Parkedcar, a sentient Spider-Man vehicle.

In this shot, a comic panel block states that LEGO Spider-Man is from Earth-13122. That is the same universe as the LEGO Marvel video games, including LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.

This version of Spider-Man has been fairly inactive from over the past few years. With Traveller’s Tales working primarily on its LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga for numerous years, there hasn’t been any news on more LEGO Marvel video games.

Nevertheless, LEGO Spider-Man’s inclusion in Across the Spider-Verse was a fun time for fans of the character, and just fans of the superhero in general. While his role in the movie is rather short, it definitely brought a number of laughs to the cinema during our showing.

Of course, Across the Spider-Verse features hundreds of different incarnations of the superhero, especially in the background of shots. For example, the infamous Spider-Man popsicle is not only in the movie, but a living popsicle superhero that floats after Miles during the movie’s huge chase sequence.

There’s no word on whether or not this LEGO version of Peter Parker will return for the next movie, Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, considering the popularity of the character in this movie, we should expect at least a cameo from the Swedish-plastic superhero in next year’s sequel.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is out now in cinemas worldwide.
