Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse continues to ramp up the fanservice, as a rumour claims that Spider-Man’s fan-favorite clone, Ben Reilly, is going to appear in the movie. If true, Ben will join a number of fan-favorite Spider-People in the 2023 Spider-Verse sequel, with Spider-Punk, Spider-Man 2099, and Spider-Woman already confirmed; not to mention the return of Miles and Gwen.
Attack of the Clone?
Twitter user CanWeGetSomeToast, who has revealed Marvel scoops in the past, says that fans should expect to see Ben Reilly in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. While Sony and Marvel have yet to confirm the news, Spider-Man fans would love it if we got to see Ben Reilly make his theatrical debut.
Reilly appearing in Across the Spider-Verse would be interesting, as it would add a layer of imposter syndrome to the sequel. Of course, only time will tell if they actually end up adding Spider-Man’s infamous clone to the movie but considering how we’ve already seen Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Ham, it’s not impossible.

Ben Reilly
Anyone reading Marvel comics in the ‘90s will know who Ben Reilly is, as the infamous clone was all over Spider-Man stories back in the day. Most fans associate Ben Reilly with his alias the Scarlet Spider, which was a simplified Spider-Man costume that had a blue hoodie and red tights. Reilly was briefly Spider-Man, letting Peter Parker rest for a hot minute, before seemingly perishing in a battle against Green Goblin.
Ben Reilly recently came back during The Clone Conspiracy as a villain, before switching back to his Scarlet Spider identity and becoming an anti-hero. During Amazing Spider-Man’s Beyond story, Ben would become Spider-Man once again after Peter Parker was sidelined with a major sickness.
Unfortunately, some convoluted machinations would lead Ben to become a villain again, now calling himself Chasm and teaming with Madeline Prior, a clone of Jean Grey. Will Ben Reilly appear in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse? Expect confirmation when the movie’s press material is officially released.
