iPhone SE 4 could have something that iPhone 14 users are missing out on

The iPhone SE has been a great idea from Apple, even since the first generation it launched, as a way to get budget-minded people into the iOS and Apple ecosystems. Considering the success of the iPhone SE 3, which launched in 2022, it would be no surprise that Apple could be looking to produce the iPhone SE 4 in the coming years.

However, it could be an even bigger upgrade than some may suspect, at least when it comes to the design of the device. While the 2022 version of the iPhone SE shared a similar look to older iPhone models with chunky bezels at the top and bottom, including the beloved Touch ID, new renders for the iPhone SE 4 seem to suggest that it will be taking cues from the iPhone 14 line up.

As shared by 91Mobiles, the leaked renders for the iPhone SE 4 suggest that the upcoming budget-friendly smartphone will look very familiar for iPhone 14 users, sporting the familiar notch at the top of the screen, with Face ID instead of the physical home button found with Touch ID found in the SE from 2022.

It's even slightly bigger compared to the last generation SE, with the iPhone SE 4 set to feature a 6.1-inch screen over the smaller 4.7-inch screen found in the SE from 2022. And, thankfully, it looks like it will have a USB-C port instead of using Lightning cable (seems like you'll only find that in the Apple Vision Pro for the foreseeable future).

But, what will iPhone 14 users be missing out on that SE 4 users will get? Well, while the renders don't show it, the iPhone SE 4 is suggested to be getting the Action Button, which debuted with the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Interestingly, the entire iPhone 16 line up is reportedly getting the Action Button too.

Other rumours have suggested that the iPhone SE 4 would get the Dynamic Island too, but these renders don't show that to be the case. So, either one of these leaks is correct, or it's entirely possible that both could be wrong. Until Apple reveals the iPhone SE 4, we won't know for sure. However, while the renders don't include the Action Button, it doesn't show a mute switch either, and it should have one or the other when it launches.

The iPhone SE 4 will reportedly arrive in 2025, so these designs are likely early suggestions right now - if they're real at all, that is. However, it certainly seems like an iPhone SE 4 is on the way, and we may see Apple reveal the budget-friendly phone later this year, alongside the iPhone 16.
