Insomniac Game’s Wolverine PS5 game is already nearing completion, according to recent reports.
Set in the same universe as Insomniac’s Spider-Man video games, the new Wolverine PlayStation exclusive seems to be close to release.
With Spider-Man 2 releasing this September, Insomniac’s next title shows the video game universe moving towards a more annual release schedule.
Shared in Sony’s recent financial report, a slide of upcoming releases highlights Wolverine as one of the company’s next big releases. Alongside cross-platform releases like Avatar: Frontiers of Tomorrow, Tekken 8, Silent Hill: Townfall and more, a number of first-party lexclusives are boasted with huge logos.
One of these is Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2, a game that currently has no official release date. However, it is expected to launch in Fall of this year, similar to every other Insomniac exclusive.
However, the Wolverine PS5 game is also included. Considering every other game on the list is a soon-to-be-released project, Wolverine may end up being released sometime in 2024.
The only other 2024 projects on Sony’s slide are Silent Hill: Townfall and Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League, the latter being recently pushed into next year. Therefore, Wolverine could be releasing far sooner than anyone thought.
Then again, it shouldn’t be too surprising that Insomniac is just a heat away from releasing its next title. After all, the studio has been known for its lightning-fast turnaround ever since the Ratchet and Clank Future series on the PlayStation 3.
Insomniac’s Wolverine game is expected to be a violent and mature take on the character. While it’s not been confirmed, the game is also expected to take place in the same New York City map as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which could be the reason behind the quick release.
No gameplay has been released of the new superhero game as of yet. However, with a Sony PlayStation Showcase on the way, we could be about the see the title’s gameplay debut.
