God of War Ragnarok is one of the best-reviewed PlayStation exclusives this year, winning numerous game awards and being a favorite amongst many fans. While fans make their way through the (very) long journey of Kratos, Sony Santa Monica is already planning for players to replay it with New Game Plus coming in 2023.

This isn’t the first time a PlayStation exclusive received New Game Plus late. Ragnarok’s predecessor, God of War (2018), also got New Game Plus late via an update. Marvel’s Spider-Man also got New Game Plus late, though Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales had it in the base game.

It will be interesting to see what the God of War Ragnarok New Game Plus mode adds when it comes out. Fans will definitely want an extra layer of challenge, especially for their powered-up version of Kratos in this mode.

On Twitter, Sony Santa Monica announced that God of War Ragnarok’s New Game Plus will be coming out in Spring 2023. This will be great for the three or five people who have finished the game since Ragnarok is a really long journey.

Unfortunately, details of the mode were not revealed, though the studio did promise more details as the release date draws near. We presume that the developers are working on the mode to make sure that it meets expectations, which is always appreciated.

Fans will remember how God of War (2018) had a pretty good New Game Plus mode to go through. Enemy levels were scaled to match Kratos, meaning that the first few encounters would immediately be difficult. In addition to stronger enemies and carrying over all of Kratos’ upgrades, players could also craft even better armor.

Players can probably expect something similar when God of War Ragnarok gets New Game Plus sometime next year. God of War Ragnarok is now available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
