Breakdown

  • Fallout 4 VR has been a barebones experience for the longest time, but modders have changed that
  • A new video shows just how far the modding community has taken this game
  • Bethesda can always rely on its fans to fix their games for them

Fallout 4 VR is a pretty barebones experience, but a thriving fan community and plenty of mods has made this title a must-play experience. It seems that Bethesda always has to rely on fans to fix their broken or lifeless games and this VR experience is no exception.

YouTube content creator habie147 posted a video of the VR title, after the game was modded by its beloved fan community. The video posted by this user shows that this is a VR experience worth taking, as it looks like Bethesda's acclaimed RPG, but a lot more immersive.

Users who played Fallout 4 VR know that it’s a pretty bare experience, even though the game does look a lot like the acclaimed RPG. Players simply need to look at the reviews to see that Bethesda didn’t bother making this experience as robust as it could be. All of the positive reviews mention needing mods to make it good, which is truly unfortunate.

“Fallout 4 VR has a funny history. Fallout 4 came out only a year prior and Fallout 4 VR and Skyrim both released as wildly bare bones VR ports but through mods and a vibrant modding community, Skyrim VR has flourished while Fallout 4 VR has taken 7 years to get the ability to hold the guns,” habie147 wrote on the video’s description.

Seeing dedicated fans enhance a poor VR experience is pretty wholesome, showing how much these fans care about this game. Bethesda should have tried to make this game better, especially now that VR is a bit more popular, but it’s good to see modders improve this title.

All eyes are on the franchise right now, thanks to the success of Amazon’s excellent Fallout series. To celebrate the show’s release, Bethesda released a next-gen upgrade of Fallout 4, though it ended up being buggy on release.

Fallout 4 VR is readily available on PC, but fans interested in this game should invest in mods if they want a quality experience.
