The fact that you can get boned by a bear in Baldur’s Gate 3 has become a massive meme for its developer Larian Studios. However, the developers of the massive RPG are not the only ones who have been flooded with memes, but also their family.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Baldur’s Gate 3 director Swen Vincke revealed that his son was trolled by the bear sex meme as soon as the news became popular. Multiple people flooded his son’s messages with pictures of bears, teasing him for the game’s raunchy scenes.

“My son comes to me telling me ‘Dad, people are sending me pictures of bears from everywhere," Vincke explained. "I wasn't ready for that. I could overhear him going like 'Yeah, I KNOW!' [to people who called him]."

However, bear sex isn’t even the raunchiest scene available in Larian’s new RPG. While it is one of the more shocking scenes, the game’s writer revealed that much raunchier scenes are included in the RPG for avid fans of romance and smut.

The inclusion of boning a Druid in their bear form was not included just for shock value, though. Vincke explained that the scene was more of an example of how seriously the developers take the Dungeons and Dragons world and characters.

“[Of course] we wanted a scene people were going to talk about, but we wanted to show that this was a cinematic game, with characters that have depth to them. The bear's obviously a druid, and he has a story. He's been around for hundreds of years. He's lived with bears for part of his life also, so that's where the bear thing comes from. It's interesting when you start thinking about it, what it meant for him living with bears, right? Because there's also horny bears in the world."

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available right now on PC, and there’s a PS5 version releasing on September 6th. An Xbox Series version is also in the works, but Series S issues mean the game likely won’t release until 2024.
