Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most sexually charged releases of all times, but some of the game’s inherent horniness is actually due to a bug, not because you’re super suave.

On top of all the bear sex and other extreme horniness found in Baldur’s Gate 3, ahem, Dragonborn Dongs, many were slightly perturbed by how down bad their companions were. For some, companions were crawling all over them with Gale specifically ruining romances with other characters because he wanted to get boned so bad.

In an interview with The Gamer, Larian CEO Swen Vincke explained that the pent up, overtly sexual nature of companions on launch was due to a bug in the game. Sorry, reader, they’re just not that into you, their buggy code was.

Vincke explained that the approval thresholds for characters was way too low on the game’s launch build. This led to players having to fend off multiple characters from their advances while they attempted to romance a single companion. (In my case, the adorable Shadowheart. Ah, swoon.)

"So... it was a bug. The approval thresholds were too low when we shipped,” Vincke explained. “That's why they were so horny in the beginning. It wasn't supposed to be that way. We've fixed it since, at least for some of them. We're still fixing a few of them."

While Vincke didn’t explain who specifically was left to be sexually toned down in upcoming updates, he did explain that Gale specifically was an issue on launch. While the wizard companion is hot as hell, he wasn’t supposed to be drooling over your every action.

"[He] wasn't supposed to be like, instantly there,” Vincke explained.

While a lot of Baldur’s Gate 3 players didn’t mind the game’s hyper-sexual characters, there were some that were put off by them. With the game’s horniness bug actively ruining some gamers’ romance options, it was a bug that needed to be toned down.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available on PC via Steam or GOG. The game launches on PS5 in just a few days on September 6th with the Xbox version’s release date sometime later this year. It’s well worth playing.
