Avengers: The Kang Dynasty script is penned by Rick and Morty’s Jeff Loveness

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set to be the next MCU crossover movie and the first one of Phase Five. With Marvel committing to the multiverse, it’s fitting that Rick and Morty writer Jeff Loveness was hired to script it.

Considering how far off The Kang Dynasty is, it’s admirable to see Marvel preparing itself by hiring Loveness this early. It seems that many seeds for Phase Five have been planted now and we can't wait to see them grow.

Jeff Loveness to script Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

Deadline broke the news of Jeff Loveness scripting Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, with Marvel Studios not commenting on the report. Loveness has already written Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, which also features Kang, so seeing him return here makes sense.

Though he’s mostly known for Rick and Morty, Loveness has also written a number of Marvel comics in the past. While he’s mostly written Marvel one-shots and annuals, Loveness did pen the seven-issue Novas series and a six-issue Groot mini-series.

Shang-Chi Director Destin Daniel Cretton joins Loveness in The Kang Dynasty, with rumors that Ryan Coogler could helm Secret Wars. Aside from that very little is known about either Avengers movie, aside from the involvement of Kang and the multiverse.

The build to MCU Phase Five

In addition to hiring Jeff Loveness for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, we’ve also seen the news on other Phase Five films. Fans got to see the complete cast of Thunderbolts and plot details for Captain America: New World Order during D23.

With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ending Phase Four later this year, it won’t take long to enter the Multiverse Saga. Phase Five officially starts with next year’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, which has gotten praise for its Comic-Con trailer.
