Learning a language can be difficult on your own, which is why Duolingo continues to be a popular app. The service has been a great help to many, assisting those that need to learn different languages. It’s why many have been wondering how to join a Duolingo class.

While the Duolingo app can be helpful on its own, some people might have an easier time doing it if they’re part of a class. Learning a language by yourself can be tricky, especially since it’s easy to get distracted when you’re alone. Classes tend to feel more informed, especially since other people with similar goals are joining you.

So, without further ado, here’s what we know about joining a Duolingo class and how much they might help people going forward.

Duolingo is the way to go!

Unfortunately, it’s no longer possible to join a Duolingo class. Despite being a popular feature that was used by a number of people, it was announced that classes would wind down and eventually end.

According to the website’s support section, Duolingo classes were discontinued on January 18, 2023. Because of this, no one will be able to host or attend classes, though the general app is still available. The classes section is also no longer available, simply giving an image that points out what we’ve been talking about.

The company claims that the regular classes weren’t the most efficient way to deliver their message. While it was acknowledged that this was a difficult solution, the company made this decision regardless.

Can we still have classes with previous hosts somehow?

Interestingly, Duolingo did announce that previous hosts can still communicate with their followers and possibly schedule classes outside of the app. Apparently, this is so hosts and learners can support the continued relationships that were forged through these classes. It makes plenty of sense to do so.

Hosts now have the “message all followers” option that lets them send a custom email with their personal information to their followers. This frees up the host to schedule their own classes, though we imagine this might be more difficult without the app’s measures. Hopefully, hosts don’t take advantage of their followers now that the app doesn’t allow classes.

Now that you know how to join a Duolingo class, have a look at the leagues in Duolingo and learn how to remove languages from Duolingo.
