But how do you delete save data on Xbox One or Xbox Series? Here's everything you need to know, for deleting cloud saves and local saves on your Xbox.

How To Delete Cloud Saves On Xbox

Deleting cloud saves is a really straightforward process. Using My games & apps on your Home screen will allow you to delete saves you don't want. Here's how:

  • On Home, select My games & apps.
  • Highlight the game, press the Menu button on your controller, then select Manage game & add-ons.
  • Select the Saved data box, then choose the item you want to delete.
  • Delete it.

That's it. Rinse and repeat this process until you have gotten rid of anything you no longer want or need in your cloud storage. But what about your local saves? That's what we'll cover next.

How To Delete Save Data Locally On Xbox One

As with cloud saves, deleting locally saved data is quick and easy:

  • Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage.
  • On the Manage storage devices screen, select:
    • Clear local saved games. This deletes games saved to your hard drive, but they’ll still be saved to the cloud. If you want to remove them from the cloud, follow the steps we outlined above

In addition to this, you can follow the following process:

  • Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
  • Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage.
  • From here, you can select your internal storage, and choose Uninstall things.
  • You will be taken to the Free up space screen, where you can remove any game or app. Simply select what you wish to remove, and press Remove selected.

It's worth mentioning as well, that Xbox uses a "smart storage" system. This system identifies items that it thinks would be good candidates for deletion. You can delete the recommended items, or ignore them altogether, and delete anything else that you fancy.

And there you have it. A few simple steps to delete save data, and free up some of that precious storage space.
