Hong Kong company GPD have finally announced the Win 3 handheld after months of rumours, through their Twitter handle.

In the last few years, GPD have been bringing out many clamshell devices based on Windows, and some on Android, where customers can play games such as GTAV, Anthem or Resident Evil 2 wherever they are, on low graphics settings.

With the Win 3, they are seemingly abandoning the design from the last few years and have unveiled a design that looks like a cross between a Nintendo Switch and a Sony Xperia Play.

With that, let’s go into the specs, features and when it may release.

Specs

Succeeding on the Win 2 from 2018, GPD have decided that there have been enough improvements to warrant a third model. These are the specifications that have leaked so far:

  • 5.5” Display
  • Intel Core i7-1165G7
  • Intel Iris XE Graphics G7 GPU
  • 16GB LPDDR4 RAM
  • Thunderbolt 4 / USB-C
  • NVMe M.2 SSD
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Wi-Fi 6

With the above put into consideration, it should be able to run recent games such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Resident Evil 3 at medium settings.

On the design itself, there is a standard Gamepad design, with two analogue sticks and a small circle which will take the place of a trackpad.

Features

Alongside the above hardware, it looks like the aim for GPD is to make it easier for customers to control the games with a better placed Gamepad.

Before with the Win 1 and Win 2, you would need to reach past the keyboard in the clamshell design, which did feel uncomfortable.

Here, it’s the Switch variant, and while not the most attractive in look for the Win 3, it will definitely be much easier to hold and control any games loaded.

Price

GPD haven’t revealed a price as yet, but as the similar GPD Win Max and P2 Max retail for $799, expect the Win 3 to be around this figure.
