The Lord of the Rings franchise brings a brand-new title in Return to Moria that differs from what its fanbase expects. In this unique project by Free Range Games, you'll be collecting resources and rebuilding the once-great kingdom of Moria, which now stands in ruins and infested with all manner of unsavoury creatures. While out there mining for resources, you may find yourself overwhelmed by the nasties that lurk in the mines, so let's take a look at how to recover your lost loadout if you die.

Set after the events of the Return of the King, you'll take control of your own customised dwarf to help Gimli and company reclaim the kingdom of Moria. You'll do this by collecting a wealth of resources, seeking and restoring shelter from hostile parties, and building up a knowledge base on how to craft weapons, tools, and food. Best of all, you and your party will play a major part in rebuilding and restoring the kingdom to its former glory.

Can you recover lost items when you die in Return to Moria?

Thankfully for those who meet their unfortunate demise in the caves of Moria, it is possible to reclaim your possessions after you respawn. It may come as an unpleasant surprise to some to find out that all of those gruelling hours of mining, building, and foraging are wasted as your belonging perishes with you.

While its combat system is relatively simplified, Return to Moria will test players in a multitude of ways that extend beyond their skills with a blade. You'll need to regularly eat, keep out of extreme weather conditions, and manage your energy on top of warding off the advances of goblins if you want to survive.

How to recover lost loadout

If you die in Return to Moria, you need not panic. It is possible to reclaim all of your hard-earned gear, but it comes with a condition. When you die, your body is replaced by a small commemorative stone from which your items are stored. It is simply a matter of returning to the spot where you died and looting the stone.

It is worth noting that this is sometimes easier said than done because you will respawn with no possessions. The difficulty of your quest to reclaim your items will depend on how far you need to travel, the time of day, the environmental conditions, and whether or not you run into some unfriendly faces along the way. Consider crafting a quick weapon, just in case.

That's all you need to know about recovering items in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. For more info on Return to Moria, take a look at why some fans are sceptical about the release of the game.
