With the widely successful release of Hades, fans are eager to get their hands on the early access launch of the sequel Hades 2. However, Hades 2 Early Access is for PC gamers only, unfortunately. Naturally, Xbox players are counting down the days for the Hades 2 Xbox release so they can also journey back into the underworld.

However, if you’re excited to see the latest chapter in the Hades series on your home console, and reunite with the various Hades 2 Gods that you met in the first game - as well as some new faces - you may be wondering when the game will finally release on Microsoft’s console… if at all.

Is Hades 2 on Xbox?

The Hades 2 Xbox release is expected in mid-2025 once the early access period is over. According to the developer, this will last "at least through the end of 2024," and there will likely be a small delayed between early access ending and the full release on console, as was the case with the first game.

Supergiant Games hasn’t revealed what platforms the game will be ported to in its FAQs, though the first game was available on Xbox, and even on Xbox Game Pass, so you can count on it being available on Xbox Series X|S. As for an Xbox One release, that's less likely though still possible.

Microsoft actually has a specialized early access-style program for Xbox gamers, called Xbox Game Preview, that allows developers to release work-in-progress titles to the store with the promise of future updates. However, Supergiant Games has not opted to release the title on the platform using Game Preview, but it could be a potential avenue for the developer to release it in the future.

If you simply prefer using a controller and have a decent enough PC or laptop, you can actually play Hades 2 on Steam with an Xbox controller. So, if playing with a gamepad is your only major concern, you don’t need to worry. In fact, playing Hades 2 with a controller is the preferred option for many.

Fortunately, the multi-award-winning Hades 1 is available to play on both Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One already. So sit back, enjoy the original game and refresh your memory of the journey of Hades.
