In most RPGs, a quest typically involves fetching a few items, fighting some monsters, finding a new area, or some combination of those three tasks. At some point in Larian’s latest title, you’ll need to find the Baldur’s Gate 3 Flower Key to help solve a murder at the Open Hand Temple during Act 3.

Though it may just be a regular item compared to the likes of the Chest of the Mundane or sussur blooms, the Flower Key is just as important when it comes to progressing the quest that it’s tied to.

So, let’s go ahead and locate the Baldur’s Gate 3 Flower Key and figure out where to use it to get to the bottom of the Open Hand Temple murder.

Where do you get the Flower Key?

You can acquire the Flower Key in the tunnels beneath the Open Hand Temple. To get to this area, you need to find a hatch in the temple’s kitchen that will lead to the tunnels.

While exploring the tunnels, you will encounter some shapeshifters that need to be defeated. Once they’re dealt with, they will drop a dagger called Stillmaker and the Flower key.

You might also come across a rather disturbing item here called the Clown’s Severed Torso, but it is tied to a different quest. We won't spoil it for you, but that is one you might want to get on soon.

Where to use the Flower Key

The Flower Key can be used on a lock inside Fraygo’s Flophouse, a building that’s just a short distance north of the Open Hand Temple. You might be stopped by some guards at the South Span Checkpoint on your way there, but just give them some fake names and they’ll let you through.

Once you’re inside Fraygo’s Flophouse, follow these steps to find the lock that needs the Flower Key.

  • Go up the stairs to the right.
  • At the top of the stairs, enter the room on your right.
  • Climb the ladder at the end of the room.
  • Interact with the wardrobe you find in this area to use the Flower Key.

This will lead you to a secret room behind the wardrobe that will have all the evidence you need to solve the Open Hand Temple murders. Collect the evidence and take them to Investigator Valeria to finish up the quest.
