It’s been a decade since we last got an Armored Core game, so fans of the franchise have their sights set on the next installment. One particular thing these fans have been wondering about is what the Armored Core 6 multiplayer will be like. After all, giant robot battles are a lot more fun when there are more people involved, right?
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is being developed by FromSoftware, the same Japanese studio which brought us Dark Souls and Bloodborne. These titles aren’t known for their multiplayer modes, but they do exist in some capacity.
So, will we also be getting any sort of Armored Core 6 multiplayer action? Let’s get right into it and find out.
Does Armored Core 6 have multiplayer?
Yes, Armored Core 6 will definitely let you go head-to-head with mechs built by other players in a multiplayer mode.
Multiplayer has always been a part of the Armored Core series, and Fires of Rubicon looks to continue that tradition. In Armored Core 6, you can battle it out with your friends in two different ways – 1v1 and 3v3.
What the game won’t have though, are invasions. This is a feature normally found in FromSoftware’s soulslike titles which allows players to spawn into other people’s games and battle them for their resources.
Will Armored Core 6 have a co-op mode?
No, Armored Core 6 will not have any sort of co-op mode. This has been directly confirmed by Masaru Yamamura, the game’s director.
But, you won’t be entirely alone when going through Armored Core 6’s story. Gameplay footage has shown ally mechs joining you in battle throughout the single-player campaign.
It doesn’t seem like you’ll be able to control these NPCs in any way though, so how effective they might be in battle is anyone’s guess at this point.
