A Bloodborne PS5 mod has become the unofficial remaster we’ve been craving. Created by a popular Souls modder, the new mod shows what Bloodborne would look like running at 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and the results are mind-blowing.
Lance McDonald, a modder who has gained a reputation for reworking Souls games, revealed how great this game would look if Sony patched it for PS5. While the PS4 game can be played on PS5, doesn’t have improved framerate or visuals, despite fans begging for updates.
McDonald has done this before, making the game run at 60 FPS on a PS4 Pro not too long ago. Naturally, this has fans wondering why Sony won’t just pull the trigger on a remaster or a 60 FPS patch for the current game.
Fans wondering how McDonald made Bloodborne 60 FPS on PS5 should know that this can’t be done legally. McDonald likely has a modified PS5, which is how the system can run this game at 60 FPS. Considering the fact that the modder didn’t reveal the info on the framerate boost, that essentially confirms the modified console.
While it would be difficult, Sony has patched in some great quality-of-life improvements for their exclusives before. Exclusives like Horizon Zero Dawn, Ratchet and Clank, and God of War received 60 FPS patches for the PS5, showing that this can be done. The fact that they haven’t done it for Bloodbore yet means they know fans will pay top dollar to replay this in 60 FPS.
Right now, all Souls fans can do is enjoy the video released by McDonald and think of all the possibilities that can come from a future remaster. Let’s just hope that Sony is working hard to make this remaster feel like a true PS5 exclusive or however the slogan goes.
