How to wake Art Cullagh in Baldur's Gate 3 Malus Thorm

You’ll meet a lot of colorful characters playing through Larian’s Dungeons and Dragons game, but perhaps one of the more interesting people you encounter is an unconscious man at the Last Light Inn. We’ve made this guide on how to wake Art Cullagh in Baldur’s Gate 3 so you can help this poor soul and find out what happened to him.

Some of the characters you come across in Baldur’s Gate 3 can end up in your party as companions. One companion in particular, Halsin, is especially helpful in dealing with Art Cullagh, so you may want to look up where to find him.

So, let’s figure out how to wake Art Cullagh in Baldur’s Gate 3 to get to the bottom of the mysteries surrounding him.

How to wake Art Cullagh

To wake up Art Cullagh, you’ll need to obtain a battered lute and play a few notes on it for the comatose mercenary. You need to set out on another dangerous quest for this item, so make sure you’re prepared.

Here’s how to get the battered lute that will awaken Art.

  • Speak to Halsin at either Druid’s Grove or your camp.
  • Return to the Last Light Inn and you’ll find Halsin at Art’s side.
  • Speak to Halsin again, and then talk to the NPC named Fist J’ehlar.
  • Make your way to the House of Healing which is in the northwestern portion of the map.
  • In the House of Healing, you’ll encounter someone named Malus Thorm. Defeat Thorm in battle or try talking your way out of a fight.
  • Regardless of which approach you take with Malus Thorm, you’ll be able to loot the battered lute from his body after he is dealt with.
  • Return to Art Cullagh in the Last Light Inn and play some notes on the lute for him.

After waking up, Art will ask for Halsin and you’ll be able to continue the efforts to restore the Shadow-Cursed Lands to its former beauty.

Where is Art Cullagh

You can get to Art Cullagh in his unconscious state in Act 2. He is confined to the Last Light Inn and you won’t be able to reach that place until you’ve completed the game’s first act.

Your party will inevitably end up at the Last Light Inn since the game’s main storyline will take you there. However, if you progress the story too far before curing Art Cullagh, you will miss the opportunity to save him.
