Fire Emblem Engage - when to promote your units

Fire Emblem Engage - when to promote your units

Is there anything more satisfying than gaining a level in a game? We definitely wish we could do that in real life too! But even better than simply levelling up, might be getting a promotion, especially in the Fire Emblem series. So let's take a look at when to promote your units in Fire Emblem Engage.

Promotion, in the series, is a process which allows a character to change from one Class to another (let's say from Cavalier to Paladin). This might give the character a stat boost, increased movement, additional weapon types, enhanced skills and new ones as well. You definitely want to keep promoting your units.

So, let us take a look at what would be the best time to promote your Fire Emblem Engage units.

Best time to promote your units in Fire Emblem Engage

First things first, in order to promote your units you need a Master Seal. Then, your unit needs to have their Basic Class at level 10, in order to get that good promotion.

Along with that, they need to match all the weapon proficiency requirements of the Class you want to promote them to. This can be also done through the use of the Emblem Rings, through Bond Levels.

But that is still not the best time to promote them, our advice is to wait until they're at Level 20. Then, by using a Master Seal, you can have them switch to another Basic Class or, if you wish, an Advanced one.

After your units reach level 20, they're maxed out so they will miss out on any future stat boosts in their Class.

How to get a Master Seal in Fire Emblem Engage

The first obvious answer to that is: money. You can buy Master Seals at Somniel's Item Shop, they cost 2500 Gold each, so they are definitely not cheap. Also, your stock is limited, at least until you complete Chapters 13 and 17. Only after you clear Chapter 18, you will be able to get as many Seals as you want.

If you're looking to save some money, there are specific missions which will grant Master Seals upon completion. They are, in particular, Chapters 7, 10, 16, and 17. Finally, you can also get a Master Seal by completing the Paralogue: Mysterious Merchant.
