The next-gen version of Fortnite is coming, but the folks over at Epic are not just looking ahead: the iconic Battle Royale game is also indulging in a bit of nostalgia, by bringing back the default pickaxe from the game's early days.
As Epic said in a blog about the big next-gen plans: "In the spirit of remembering the past while looking to the future, we’re offering all Fortnite players — on all supported platforms — the free Throwback Axe Pickaxe."

Fortnite default pickaxe release date
The official blog from Epic Games tells: "Starting November 4, this classic default Pickaxe from Fortnite Chapter 1 will be available through January 15, 2021".
Basically, you'll only be able to get the Throwback Axe between 4th November and 15th January - you won't want to miss out on it, so don't delay!

How to get the Fortnite default pickaxe
Epic's blog post explains that the default pickaxe will be available to "everyone both in-game and through the PlayStation Store."
So if you're a PS4 or PS5 player, you should be able to find the default pickaxe simply by searching for Fortnite stuff in the PS Store.
So yeah, if you're reading this between 4th November and 15th January, just log into Fortnite and you should be able to find the axe!

How to get the Fortnite default pickaxe on Xbox
While much of the attention has focused on PlayStation and its Fortnite upgrades, Epic Games hasn't forgotten its core Xbox community!
This so-called "Throwback Axe" will also be available in the game itself, so you should be able to find it through the standard menus of Fortnite - good news for those on Xbox as well as PC, mobile and Switch players!
As with the Throwback Axe in the PS Store, this item will be free, so shouldn't cost you any of your precious V-Bucks...
