Batman's animated adventures have always been beloved by fans. DC's fantastic 1992 Batman: The Animated Series is frequently pointed to as example of peak Batman content. HBO Max is looking to capitalise on that with the reveal of a new animated show – Batman: Caped Crusader.
Produced by Matt Reeves, J.J. Abrams and Bruce Timm, Batman: Caped Crusader is a “reimagining" of the Dark Knight’s mythos. As such, we could see a new side to DC's most popular vigilante.
Batman: Caped Crusader will dive deep into beloved characters
Revealed via The Hollywood Reporter, Caped Crusader aims to be a deeper look into the Batman mythos. Warner Bros has revealed that the series will reinvent Batman's rogue's gallery, similar to what The Animated Series did.
“The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters,” Warner Bros announced. “We cannot wait to share this new world.”
Reeves, Abrams and Timm are all working on bringing the new universe to screen. Warner Bros have already praised the strong creative work the trio are bringing to the new show. The show is described as being set in a visually striking world.
“This powerful creative partnership will once again reinvent Batman and his iconic rogue’s gallery with sophisticated storytelling, nuanced characters and intense action sequences all set in a visually striking world.”
