The Marvel Cinematic Universe came to a colossal turning point with the release of Avengers: Endgame. A decade of individual movies combined into one Tour De Force of Marvel's best characters. However, it also saw the loss of the two leaders of The Avengers — Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.

With the two figureheads of the MCU now out of the picture, who will lead the next generation of superheroes? As it turns out, Marvel has just confirmed who that new leader will be. It’s Doctor Strange.

Reported by The Direct, new promotional materials for the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness confirm the magician’s recent promotion. In the comics, Strange is well-known for working alone.

However, the MCU incarnation of the Sorcerer Supreme is far more of a team player. From Infinity War to Spider-Man: No Way Home, and his upcoming team-up with Wanda Maximoff, Strange isn't an isolated wizard anymore.

This will culminate in the Doctor’s leadership of The Avengers. While running the superhero team was expected to left to Sam Wilson’s Captain America or Captain Marvel. As it turns out, that will be Strange’s role. However, he'll likely have a more hands-off role than previous leaders. Essentially, he'll be more of an overseer during dangerous situations.
