Andrew Garfield hasn't been approached for Spider-Man No Way Home

Spider-Man No Way Home is said to include multiple past Spidermen in the upcoming Marvel movie. However, one key part of this long-running rumour has confirmed that they aren't in the film: Andrew Garfield.

Interviewed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Andrew Garfield confirmed he wasn't in the new Spider-Man film. After months of rumours, the Amazing Spider-Man lead has shut down his involvement in the movie.

Andrew Garfield isn't in Spider-Man No Way Home

In his appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Andrew Garfield explained that he isn't in the new Spider-Man. Despite months-long rumours by multiple outlets, the actor isn't coming back as Peter Parker.

There isn't anything to ruin, bro! [Laughs] I had to quickly cut you off. There's nothing to ruin," Garfield explains. "It's so crazy. Dude, it's f***ing hilarious to me. I do have this Twitter account and I see how often Spider-Man is trending and it's people freaking out about a thing. I wish I could be able to speak to everyone and just say, 'I recommend that you chill.'"

Garfield explained that he doesn't know who is involved and who isn't but he isn't in the movie. In fact, the actor hasn't even been approached to star in the Marvel movie.

"I can't speak for anything else but myself. They might be doing something, but I ain't got a call," Garfield said. When asked for a definitive yes or no, the actor said, "I feel like, haven't I just said that? I did not get a call. I would've gotten a call by now, that's all I'm saying. I don't want to ruin anything. Maybe they're going to call me and say, 'Hey, people want this!' Maybe it's a market research thing."

Why isn't he in the movie?

At this point, we’re not certain if No Way Home will feature multiple multiverse Spidermen. However, if the movie does, why isn't Andrew Garfield a part of it? Simply put, the answer could be Sony.

In 2014, Garfield was supposed to attend an event where Sony would announce Amazing Spider-Man 3. However, as the actor had fallen ill, he cancelled his appearance. Then-Sony CEO Kaz Hirai and other executives then decided to cancel the movie.

Perhaps there's still bad blood between the actor and certain Sony executives. After all, Sony does have a large degree of say-so in Spidey's MCU appearances. It's also likely the company doesn't want people to be reminded of their failure to compete with Marvel in the past.
