A relative newcomer to the western tech market, Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi – maker of the more familiar Mi and Redmi brands – is perhaps most well-known for its smartphones. But it does a tidy sideline in laptops, too, and its latest model looks set to make even more waves.
The Xiaomi RedmiBook 16 laptop is one of the newer products in this range, and Notebook Check picked up pictures of the new device through the popular Chinese microblogging site Weibo. Thanks to this early info, we now know for sure that the new RedmiBook will be powered by an AMD Ryzen processor.

And, because of its large screen and streamlined design, the RedmiBook 16 is being seen as a direct competitor to the Honor MagicBook Pro 2020.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new Xiaomi RedmiBook 16 laptop.
Xiaomi RedmiBook 16 specs
The Xiaomi RedmiBook 16 will be powered by the AMD Ryzen 4000 Renoir processor, rather than the Intel Core processor favoured by the Honor MagicBook. Xiaomi has reportedly claimed that the Renoir processor will "deliver up to 60 per cent better performance" compared with the RedmiBook 16’s predecessors.
The RedmiBook 16’s other main attraction is its screen. The 16.1-inch display boasts a whopping 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio, putting it in the same class as the Honor MagicBook.

Xiaomi RedmiBook 16 features
The RedmiBook 16 has all the features you’d expect from a modern laptop, all housed in a typically sleek dark-silver shell. There’s a large trackpad with integrated mouse buttons, a fingerprint scanner and a pair of downward-firing speakers. There’s also a ton of ports for various connections, including two USB Type-A and two Type-C docks, and an HDMI output.
When it comes to battery life, Xiaomi is promising that the RedmiBook 16 will support up to 12 hours use from a single charge. It will also feature fast charging, according to the manufacturer, allowing the laptop to reach 50 per cent charge in only 38 minutes – handy if you find yourself out of juice when you’re out and about.
