It's been years since the reboot of Xbox's RPG series Fable first saw the light of day, but we still haven't seen any actual gameplay of the humorous fantasy game. That might be set to change in 2023, however, as new information from one of the game's developers has been unearthed.

Vijay Gill, one of the producers on the Fable reboot, has a LinkedIn page that reveals what he's been up to for the almost year and a half he's worked at Playground Games. Among his listed responsibilities is "preparing and facilitating regular game playthroughs and build reviews with key stakeholders."

What we can infer from this is that the game - or at least sections of it - are in a playable state and being viewed by Playground Games stakeholders behind closed doors. It's not a huge leap, then, to expect to see gameplay of Fable this summer when events like Summer Game Fest and E3 kick off.

It hasn't been smooth sailing for Fable, as we not long ago reported that, like most Microsoft games, its development had suffered due to an overreliance on contractors. We also know the company was hiring for lots of positions in summer 2022, so it stands to reason that development has ramped up since then.

It's been 13 years since Fable 3 released and there are many fans waiting with bated breath for the reboots unique blend of RPG action and humour, so there's a lot riding on Fable. This means that when we do finally see it, it's going to inevitably be a huge deal to Xbox fans.

Let's hope that huge deal comes this summer, when Geoff Keighley takes to the stage once again to give us all things to get excited about in Summer Game Fest 2023.
