Xbox Series X UI Changes: New Xbox UI is now live on Xbox One!

Microsoft recently announced a revamp of their Xbox UI in new Xbox Experience video. In line with their forwards compatibility philosophy that sees no players left behind, the UI updates are not exclusive to the Series X, but will also come to the Xbox One and PC.

While the UI remains fairly similar to the current Xbox design, some quality of life changes are designed to allow players to transition between their devices seamlessly.

Next-gen Xbox UI goes live for Xbox One!

Microsoft has made its new UI update available for Xbox One consoles, ahead of the Xbox Series X's launch on November 10.

In a blog post from Jonathan Hildebrandt, the Principal Program Manager for Xbox Experiences, Hildebrandt explained the changes coming with this recent UI update.

Microsoft has refreshed the UX design across all Xbox devices, giving them the same visual design to make them "feel more familiar and easier to use" before the next-gen console launch later this year.

With this overhaul, Microsoft has also added Profile Themes to the Xbox UI, allowing users to customise their profiles with themes from Xbox Game Studio titles.

Xbox UI streamlined Xbox One, PC and Mobile devices

In a recent blog post, Microsoft announced its intention to streamline the UI between each device.

"All the ways you use Xbox should feel inviting and familiar, whether you are on the couch relaxing or streaming your favorite game on the go," stated Jonathan Hildebrandt, the Principal Program Manager of Xbox Experiences.

Explaining these changes, Hildenbrandt said this streamlining of the UI was "to better match our other experiences on the PC and mobile devices. This includes some changes to our tile shape, fonts, and focus indicator across the experience."

Hildebrandt reassured Xbox fans that this layout won't change too much for when the Series X launches. "The overall layout of most of the pages will not be drastically changing, so you donā€™t have to learn a whole new UI when Xbox Series X launches," said Hildebrandt.

Xbox users will be able to sign into more devices

Following the successful launch of xCloud's beta, Microsoft has announced some changes to how many devices you can sign into at a time.

According to the blog post, "you will be able to sign in on as many Xboxes or Xbox Apps as you want, all at the same time. Now you can use your Xbox console as much as you want for other watching movies, using apps, chatting with friends, and more."

However, for Xbox owners hoping to share games with their friends or family via one account, you will not be able to play games simultaneously. This is to ensure "all your progress, achievements and saves stay up to date and synced whichever device you choose to play on."
