Xbox Series X crossplay: Will the new Xbox consoles support cross-play been Xbox One, Series S and Series X?

With the new Microsoft consoles coming our way a lot of people are going to be thinking about whether or not they're going to be able to play with their friends.

It's the same with every new console generation, but this generation is different for a lot of reasons. For starters, there are two different Xbox consoles coming.

Plus, the Xbox One is getting a lot of the same games that the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X is getting.

So, here's everything you need to know about cross-play on the Xbox.

Will you be able to cross-play between Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One

Now then, the next-gen is made up of the Series X and Series S. You'd expect these consoles to be able to play online together, and you'd be correct.

The same looks to be true with both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X and the Xbox One and Xbox Series S.

That means that no matter what you get, you should be able to play with your friends as long as you're all on a Microsoft console.

However, games companies can decide to not include this, but that'll be on them, not on Microsoft.

Why this is a good thing

As generational leaps change, the need for new generations changes with it. This time around we got both the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, showing that a console generation isn't the same as it used to be.

With the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series S, it shows us that Microsoft feels the same about the next-gen too.

It makes sense then, that Microsoft would encourage things like cross-play as they move away from insisting on people having to upgrade to the next-gen.

Ultimately, this decision is very pro-consumer, which is nice.
