Xbox Series S price: What will the more affordable Xbox cost? And how much cheaper than the Xbox Series X will Lockhart be?

Microsoft has revealed the Xbox Series S, a cheaper alternative to the Xbox Series X, but how much is it going to cost?

The Lockhart, which is the apparent codename of this version, is a less powerful next-gen console, one that's meant to be a little kinder on our bank balances.

And with that in mind, here's the cost we can expect from the Xbox Series S.

What is the Xbox Series S?

The Xbox Series S is the budget equivalent of the Xbox Series X - it is believed to be launching in November 2020 alongside the full fat version of the console.

The Series S will not have a disc drive, and the rumours of its specs suggest that you will not be able to play in 4K on it. But there is meant to be an SSD, which means you'll still get

Basically, it'll be a less powerful and far cheaper version of the next-gen Microsoft console.

How much will the Xbox Series S cost?

The Xbox Series S is an absolute steal - it will only cost £249 GBP or $299 USD, as Microsoft has confirmed.

This is a whopping £200 less than the Xbox Series X console, which is priced at $499 USD or £449.

With this price point, we'd expect the Xbox Series S to fly off the shelf, especially now pre-orders are open...

How to pre-order the Xbox Series S

Pre-orders for the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X went live on September 22 at 8 AM BST. Given the speed that PS5 Digital Edition pre-orders sold out, we're expecting the Series S to sell out pretty quickly, especially given its price.
