The Steam Deck is an incredible emulation machine but it still struggles with seventh-generation systems like Sony’s PS3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360. It seems things are getting better now, as Xbox 360 emulation has seen a minor bump in improvement thanks to some recent updates.

YouTube personality ED4T has confirmed that Xenia, the Xbox 360 emulator, has seen some minor improvements on Steam Deck. For starters, players can directly download Xenia from EmuDeck, so users won’t have to do any complicated configurations to get things working.

Granted, there still aren’t a lot of games that are going to work, even with the improved updates that make it better. ED4T does show games like Fable 2 working, which is pretty cool, but some of the more complicated titles will still struggle in this system.

From our experience, we were able to get XBLA roms like Marvel vs Capcom 2 and X-Men: The Arcade Game to work on Deck. Hopefully, future updates will continue to improve this emulator, since there are a ton of classics that modern gamers are missing out on.

Nostalgia for the Xbox 360 is at an all-time high, especially now that Microsoft will be closing the 360 store this year. Various games have gone on sale but that doesn’t change the fact that plenty of classics will be gone with the store. Right now, the 360 is the only console where players can legally purchase the classic Mortal Kombat games, so those titles will disappear too.

PS3 emulation on the Steam Deck is slightly better, as a good number of games are pretty playable on Valve’s handheld. A new update has improved performance as well, making sure that gamers can play titles like Infamous and the original Uncharted, amongst other titles. It’s better than playing these games on the PS Plus Premium plan.
