How To Fix The Error Loading Model In Topaz AI
According to Topaz Labs, there are several different potential causes for this error. It's hard to know for certain which one is responsible right off the bat. So work your way through these fixes, until you find the one which works for you.
Check System Requirements
Start with the most basic - make sure that your computer meets the system requirements to actually run Topaz Photo AI. These are as follows:
- Windows OS: 10, 11 (64 bit, most updated OS version is recommended)
- CPU: AVX2 Instructions required
Intel 4th Generation i5 (released 2013) and above
OR
AMD CPU (released 2015) and above - System Memory (RAM): 12GB (16GB and higher is recommended)
- Graphics Card (GPU) & Graphics Memory (VRAM):
DirectX 12 compatible
NVIDIA GTX 900 or higher, 4GB VRAM (6GB or more for optimum performance)
OR
AMD Radeon 400 or higher, 4GB VRAM (6GB or more for optimum performance)
OR
Intel UHD 600 Graphics or higher, 12GB system memory (RAM) - Monitor/Display: 1280x720
On Mac:
- Mac OS: 10.15 Catalina and above
- CPU: Intel 4th Generation i5 (released 2013) and above
OR
Apple M1 - System Memory (RAM): With Intel CPU: 16GB (24GB or more for optimum performance)
OR
With Apple M1: 8GB (16GB or more for optimum performance) - Graphics Card (GPU) & Graphics Memory (VRAM): All are supported
- Monitor/Display: 1280x720
If your graphics card doesn't meet the system requirements, you may still be able to get it to work by using the CPU instead. Click the Processor menu in Topaz Photo AI and try the CPU option. If this works, then it strongly points to your GPU being the issue.
Try Reinstalling
It's also possible that a corrupted file or missing model files could be the cause of this error.
Run the Topaz Photo AI installer once again. This will identify and fix any damaged files, and will also add any model files that may have been missing.
Contact Topaz Labs Support
If neither of the above options resolves the issue, your final step is to contact the Topaz AI Support Team.
Before reaching out to them, they advise you to go open Topaz Photo AI and click on the menu bar where it says Help > Open Log Folder. This will open a folder full of text files.
Email the support team at help@topazlabs.com with all the text files in the folder. Title the email "Error loading model in Topaz Photo AI". The support team will then investigate and advise you on next steps.
