The Valiant trailer

In The Valiant's release trailer, we get a glimpse of the game's premise. We see armies marching and battling in hills and plains, with a variety of castles under siege. From the narrator, we learn that the character doing the voiceover is in pursuit of a band of crusader knights, namely those belonging to a knight named Ulrich.

Moreover, we get a glimpse at some of the RTS gameplay we can expect to experience. These battles appear to take place across a massive campaign map, taking place in a range of terrains, from barren deserts to lush forests. Scenarios seem to show ambushes, sieges, and tournament skirmishes, that presumably occur throughout the game's campaign.

Everything we know about The Valiant

The Valiant is a squad-based real-time strategy game set in the medieval era, where players take control of a range of units. You'll command infantry, archers, and cavalry to take down the opponent's objectives.

Additionally, you can compete against other players in PvP with 1v1 and 2v2 modes, or in the single-player campaign mode. Additionally, there is also a three-player "Last Man Standing" game mode, where you'll face hordes of knights and compete to be the last alive.

The Valiant has a unique emphasis on its "Hero Squads": units that have three different skill trees that can be levelled up during the game. These heroes can be outfitted with weapons, armour, and loot collected throughout the single-player campaign. With this mechanic, the game will hope to carve its own niche in the RTS genre.

The Valiant story

The story of The Valiant follows the story of the crusader knight Theoderich von Akenburg. Theoderich previously stepped away from his Holy Order after becoming disillusioned. However, he finds himself thrust back into the conflict when he and a former soldier, Ulrich von Grevel, stumble across a holy relic: the Rod of Aaron.

When it turns out this Rod contains powers never meant for mortal men, Ulrich is driven mad with power. As Theoderich, you'll have to gather a band of unlikely allies to prevent UIrich from obtaining any further relics, and ultimately take him down for good.
