The Mandalorian Season 3 starts filming today, confirms Carl Weathers

It’s been less than a year since fans had to say goodbye to Grogu, aka Baby Yoda. Ever since then, fans have been desperate for Disney to get to work on The Mandalorian Season 3. Despite a barrage of other Star Wars shows, the franchise's Disney+ debut is still craved amongst the fanbase.

After months of waiting, news has finally surfaced regarding The Mandalorian Season 3. Just as Disney is readying for the release of The Book of Boba Fett, its flagship Star Wars show is starting production.

Carl Weathers confirms The Mandalorian Season 3 is filming

Amidst a dry spell of news for the series, actor and director Carl Weathers confirmed that filming is starting on the beloved series. On Twitter, the actor announced: “Mandalorian Season 3 begins for yours truly... tomorrow”.

Carl Weathers has been involved in the Star Wars series in multiple ways. For starters, Weathers starred in the first season as leader of the Bounty Hunters’ Guild, Greef Karga. Additionally, he directed Chapter 12: The Siege, a fan-favourite episode from the second season.

Is Carl Weathers replacing Gina Carano?

Weathers’ role as Greef Karga in The Mandalorian was prominent in the show's first season. However, as the show made way for Gina Carano’s Cara Dune to take on a bigger role, Weathers’ role was removed. Of course, Carano’s role is dead in the water after the actresses’ unacceptable behaviour.

With that said, it's confirmed that Carl Weathers will be returning as Greef Karga in The Mandalorian Season 3. Additionally, some believe that he’ll cameo in The Book of Boba Fett, which is said to be Mandalorian 2.5.

With this in mind, it could be said that Karga will become Din Djarin’s trusted friend instead of Cara Dune. On the other hand, the titular Mandalorian could just go solo instead.
