Rumours for The Last of Us Part 3 are suggesting that players will control an entirely new cast of survivors. Not having Ellie or Abby in the main role is a surprise, but it looks like Naughty Dog wants to go in a new direction.

A leaker in the ResetEra message boards claims that the PlayStation-exclusive franchise will have a new and diverse cast of characters. The leak claims that these characters are named Lucas, Mason, Val, Adhra, and Gracie. Beyond their names, these characters will have their own agendas and try to take over their small camp.

One other interesting tidbit about this rumour is that this cast of characters will be held up in an old Victorian house. Unsurprisingly, this is going to act as the main hub of the game, where players will presumably get ready for missions.

These changes in The Last of Us Part 3 are interesting, to say the least, though we’ll wait and see if they’re true. Having a new cast is an interesting idea as the last game was incredibly polarizing and divided the fanbase. While that didn’t affect the game’s overall sales, it seems the devs might not want to anger any players.

Players will remember how awful some of the responses to Part 2 were, with many being overly angry with the death of Joel. Some fans went as far as to send death threats to voice actor Laura Bailey for simply voicing a fictional character. It was a really bad situation and fans are still divided about the game to this day.

Will Naughty Dog’s luck change this time? Considering how many fans fell in love with The Last of Us on HBO, they might be changing their tune. Hopefully, fans have changed since then and many people can simply enjoy the game or not buy it if they aren’t interested.

Until anything is confirmed, these rumours about The Last of Us Part 3 are just that; rumours. In the meantime, fans can enjoy The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2 on both PS4 and PS5. The first game was also ported to PC, albeit badly, though updates may have improved the experience.
