Disney's trend with Star Wars content appears to be vastly different from its Marvel plans. Whilst Marvel TV is mostly consisting of single-series events, Star Wars is getting multiple season stories. To further that multi-season narrative, Disney has announced The Bad Batch Season 2.
The Bad Batch Season 2 announced
Ahead of the TV show's finale on Disney+ tomorrow, Disney and Lucasfilm has already revealed that there will be The Bad Batch Season 2. While many were under the impression that the show would be complete after one season, Disney has other plans.
Announced via an official Star Wars blog announcement, Lucasfilm Animation is already planning the show's next season. President of Disney+, Michael Paull explained:
“Fans have enthusiastically embraced the action and drama of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and we are excited to see the Star Wars animated universe continue to expand on Disney+. As the dedicated streaming home for the Star Wars franchise, we can’t wait for the second season of this fan-favorite animated series.”
Executive producer Dave Filoni followed up by thanking every viewer of the show. He said:
“The entire Lucasfilm Animation team and I would like to thank Disney + and our fans for the opportunity to continue telling the story of the Bad Batch”.
When will it release?
The Bad Batch Season 2 will release on Disney+ sometime next year. While other Star Wars shows in development are yet to have a definitive release date, this show is already in the release pipeline. As it’s an entirely animated series, it doesn't have any overlap with Disney's live-action productions. This allows Disney to fast-track production.
