The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is coming out on Switch soon but players already want to know the best Steam Deck settings for the sequel. Leaks of the game are currently out in the wild but we strongly suggest that players buy a legal copy on Nintendo Switch.
Of course, even those that have legal copies of the game will choose to emulate it for better performance and improved textures. So, if youāre not a fan of how the game runs on Switch, thereās a good chance that youāll want to see how it runs on Steam Deck.
With all of that sorted out, what are the best Tears of the Kingdom Steam Deck settings? How can we get the best performance out of the game on Valveās handheld? Read on and find out.
Tears of the Kingdom Steam Deck performance
Firstly, the leaked Tears of the Kingdom rom can only be played on Ryujinx, as of this writing. Currently, the rom doesnāt appear on Yuzu, so fans will want to download the Ryujinx app individually or through Steam Deck emulators such as EmuDeck.
Unfortunately, fans on Reddit have claimed that the rom isnāt up to par yet, as its performance can barely hit 30 FPS, usually hitting 20. Many fans claim that this is due to it being version 1.0 as this copy of the game isnāt ready for the mainstream public.
Players can attempt to turn off V-Sync to make the game run better but that doesnāt appear to help things right now. While Steam Deck users can try and bear through it, we think the best thing to do right now is to wait for the official release.
Tears of the Kingdom Steam Deck best settings
While it may be useful to refer to the best Breath of the Wild settings as a starting point, to optimize your gaming experience with Tears of the Kingdom on the Steam Deck, consider using the following settings recommended by Reddit user triangledS:
- Ryujinx main build 1.1.742 64-bit
- 16:9 resolution
- Vsync on
- Handheld 2x resolution
- Vulkan rendering
- System version 13.2.1
- Windowed mode
However, these settings come with a bit of a caveat. According to the user, they had to wait for the game to cache everything for an hour. Leaving the game paused for an hour seems to make everything sort itself out, for better or worse.
While not the most ideal way to play Tears of the Kingdom on Steam Deck, itās the only option players have right now. Expect things to get better once an updated version of the rom has been released.
Support the official release
Although the Steam Deck is much more powerful than the Nintendo Switch, the lack of an official release means players are stuck with a bad copy. Granted, weāre sure that a better rom for Tears of the Kingdom will be coming out soon but that will likely come out after the official release.
Thankfully, fans wonāt have to wait much longer for this, as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is coming to Switch on May 18. Weāre sure that a better rom will be released after the official game but thereās a good chance fans will stick with the Switch version for a while.
Be sure to come back to Stealth Optional, as we will update this article when a better rom for Tears of the Kingdom comes to Steam Deck.
