T2 security flaw: Should Apple fans be worried about Mac & Macbook hacking issues?

Security issues with tech aren't exactly a new thing, but it doesn't make the fact that they exist any less annoying or upsetting when these weaknesses come to light.

Sometimes it's just a whole device that's a risk, and other times it's a specific part like a chip or a dodgy port.

Well, that's the case when it comes to some Macs and Macbooks, because of the T2 security chip within them.

If you're worried about this, let us help you out with what you need to know.

What is the security issue?

As reported on by ZDNET, it looks as though the T2 security chip can actually be hacked to plant malware, and this isn't an issue that can be solved via a patch.

That means that there's no way of addressing this issue outside of upgrading or changing the chip.

You'll have to be extra careful if you want to avoid anything bad happening to your device as the most common method to exploit this would be via a USB cable.

Your best bet is to always know where your device is, but if you're worried that your device has been messed with then you can reboot things buy following the instructions on Mr Macintosh.
