Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will require a constant internet connection, even if you want to play the single-player campaign. Requiring the internet to play offline campaigns has always been an unpopular move, so it’s easy to imagine how gamers feel about this.

The game’s FAQ confirmed that players will always need to be online with this game, even if they have no plans to play multiplayer. No reason was given as to why the game always has to be online, though we assume it’s so multiplayer can be seamless and happen at any time. Either way, it’s a very bad look.

While the FAQ assures players that they can play the entirety of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League solo, they will need to be online all the time to do so. Considering how online-only games tend to have internet issues for various reasons, the fact some players might have a hard time playing by themselves is even more ridiculous.

Not helping is the fact that this game hasn’t made a great impression. We finally got our first look at some gameplay during the most recent Sony State of Play and it looks like every other game. Multiplayer shooters with microtransactions are dying out so seeing this title embrace them like they’re a new concept is embarrassing.

It’s sad to see Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League not learn from Gotham Knights or Marvel’s Avengers. At least those games let you play offline after initial updates, something this game isn’t promising to us. The fact that it’s actually canon to the acclaimed Batman: Arkham series makes this even more disappointing.

Granted, the final product isn’t out yet, so there’s always a chance that this game could defy expectations. However, the lack of offline single-player and dated microtransaction mechanics makes this game feel bland.
