Tender Claws’ hotly anticipated Stranger Things VR finally had a solid release date. Scheduled to release on February 22, 2024, the new canonical VR game will give Meta Quest 2 and 3 gamers a brand new horror experience in just a couple of weeks.
Previously delayed for much-needed bug fixes, Stranger Things VR doesn’t put you in the role of the series’ iconic band of a teens. Instead, you’ll play as Vecna, the villain of season 4 and 5 as you invade the dreams of Hawkins’ residents and take your revenge.
An 18-rated experience, Stranger Things VR doesn’t hold back from offering a dark and violent experience. As Vecna, you’ll grab, crush and throw your enemies and even inhabit the minds of Will Byers, Billy Hargrove and more to manipulate them into doing your bidding.
Stranger Things VR will fully explore the villain’s role throughout the series’ entire narrative. With past events now revealed to be due to Vecna’s reign over the Upside Down, you’ll learn exactly how villains like the Mind Flayer were sent to Hawkins in previous seasons.
The new VR game does have specific optimisations for the new Meta Quest 3, but it’s also designed to run on Quest 2 and the sadly discontinued Meta Quest Pro. You can play the game either sitting or standing with roomscale tracking to make it extra terrifying. Could it become one of the best VR games on the Quest platform?
Stranger Things VR is one of the most hyped virtual reality games for 2024. Alongside PSVR 2 games like Metro Awakening, this appears to be a strong start to the year for Meta’s brilliant mixed reality headset.
Tender Claws’ Stranger Things VR finally launches on February 22, 2024. The game will cost £22.99 on launch, but can currently be pre-ordered with a 10% discount at £20.69 right here. No PC version of the game is planned at the time of writing, and likely won’t be released.
