Parasite Eve is one of the most underutilized franchise IPs owned by Square Enix, so it’s good to see the series getting some shine. Unfortunately, this shine is coming as part of a mobile crossover with Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, so fans hoping for a new game will have to wait longer.

Brave Exvius released a new trailer highlighting the collaboration, showing what Parasite Eve lead Aya Brea looks like in 16-bit form. To their credit, Brea’s character model is on brand and looks really good, as do a lot of the characters in this mobile game.

As part of the Brave Exvius crossover, players will be able to summon a Neo Vision version of Aya Brea, which means it's very powerful. This crossover will also come with a story for Aya Brea that will attempt to capture that feeling of horror in Parasite Eve. Players will be able to start this crossover on September 21.

It’s also worth noting that Brave Exvius is the most successful Square Enix mobile game right now. Considering how many mobile titles have been canceled in the year, this might actually be good news for Aya and the rest of her supporting cast.

The last time fans had a proper Parasite Eve game was The 3rd Birthday on PSP, which fans have mixed opinions on. While the gameplay was solid for its time, the story’s major twist left a bad taste in the mouths of many fans. Should a sequel ever come out, fans are hoping that it completely ignores The 3rd Birthday, solid PSP shooting notwithstanding.

Unsurprisingly, the original Parasite Eve is seen by many as one of Square Enix’s most underrated IPs. Both the first game and its sequel were able to mix horror with JRPG-style mechanics, making for a truly unique experience that has yet to be recaptured.
