The long-awaited sequel to cult horror classic The Forest, Sons of the Forest, is now out. But gamers want to take that horror experience on the go too, so is Sons of the Forest on Steam Deck or is it just a dark night out? Let's take a look.
While the development process got off to a rocky start, the studio was finally able to complete the long-awaited sequel which was officially released on February 23rd.
But we are here to find out if you can play Sons of the Forest on Steam Deck, so let's get into it.
Can you play Sons of the Forest on Steam Deck?
At the moment, there is no indication about the game is compatible with the Steam Deck, even though the Steam page does mention that the controllers do work.
Sons of the Forest has been launched in Early Access, so with the road to release being a long one, we can't exclude that the developers are working on a possible version for the portable console.
It's also comforting to know that the predecessor is playable on the Steam Deck, but this sequel also has quite higher system requirements so it will be a long road until we are able to play with a consistent frame rate and without stuttering. You can definitely try it now, but it's going to be a rough experience.
Is Sons of the Forest a Steam exclusive?
For the moment, Sons of the Forest has been launched on Early Access on Steam and it is also available there. We can't say for sure if this won't change in the future, perhaps with the game being available on Game Pass. We will have to wait and see.
That is all we have for you at the moment, but if you're curious about other games being compatible with the Steam Deck check out our guides on Returnal on the Steam Deck and Wild Hearts performance.
