ROCCAT/Turtle Beach has been making waves in the gaming world as of late; more notably with their newly signed deal with popular Twitch streamer Dr. Disrespect.
The company has a wide array of products that can all be considered top of the line, but their partnership with audio company Turtle Beach puts their headsets in a class of their own.
Let’s take a look at one of their premium headsets in the Khan Aimo.
Basic Information
- Priced at $79.99 USD
- 7.1 High Res Sound
- Wired Headset
- On-Ear Controls
- Full RGB Lighting
- 275g
First Impressions
Upon taking the headset out of the box, you will notice the sturdy build quality behind the headset; as well the braided cable is a nice touch.
Set-up could not have been easier, as you can just plug it into any USB port and use it right away; but we recommend you download the ROCCAT software first!
Comfort - Score 90
The Kham Aimo features a premium leather material on both of the ear cuffs and the headband; the latter is an outstanding feature for long gaming sessions and it goes a long way.
As for the earpieces, it is hard to say how comfortable they are; the material is above average for sure but certainly not the best. It does provide an excellent feeling of immersion and this is the type of material that can be worn for hours on end!
It will take some time to mold to your head and get used to the material, but it is a solid one for sure; one that is above most headphones right now.
Software and Features - Score 70
With two on-ear buttons that control the RGB and the sound volume, the latter is a subtle yet nice touch to the headset. Although you will not see it while wearing it, of course, it will look the part with your setup.
Perhaps the most dysfunctional feature that we encountered was the ROCCAT software works with the Khan Aimo. Although it is useable, it can be confusing to some people and it does not offer the best user interface we have seen.
The Sware software was also rather slow for some reason, often freezing when downloading an update for the drivers; so be patient when using it!
Sound Quality - Score 95
The selling point behind any gaming headset; the Khan Aimo does not disappoint when it comes to audio quality. The 7.1 High-resolution sounds is in a class of its own when gaming you will notice a sense of immersion while playing certain games and the headset does a fantastic job at distinguishing sounds.
The directional sound of the Khan Aimo is one of the best audio experiences I have felt in quite some time; the bass of the headset by default is also stellar. It is really hard to find anything to complain about when it comes to sound in the Aimo; it crosses off all the boxes of a gaming headset.
Our Score
Pros
- Comfort
- Immersive Audio
- RGB
Cons
- ROCCAT Swarm Software
The ROCCAT Khan Aimo is for sure one of the headsets you should consider when purchasing a new one. The sound quality is one of the best we have experienced in quite some time, and if you are someone who loves directional sound this is the headset for you. With immersion like no other headset we have used in the market as well, it is hard to discredit ROCCAT for their subpar software.
