A Red Dead Redemption PC port has not been ruled out by publisher Take-Two Interactive. While the iconic Rockstar Games Western game has yet to make its debut on PC, even with a new remaster on the way, it could still happen in the future.

With the upcoming re-release of Red Dead Redemption, many fans are upset at the lack of a proper remaster for the game. Releasing only on PS5 and Nintendo Switch, the port is a barebones re-release of the PS3 and Xbox 360 game.

Speaking to IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that its not up to the publisher when or if the game comes to PC. However, a PC port will be supported if Rockstar Games wants to invest in the platform.

As for why Red Dead Redemption has only received a rudimentary remaster on modern systems, Zelnick also commented.

“It depends on the vision that the creative teams have for a title, and in the absence of having a powerful vision, for something that we would do with a title, we might bring it in its original form, we've done that, and in certain instances we might remaster or remake, so it really depends on the title and how the label feels about it, the platform, and what we think the opportunity is for consumers,” they said.

Prior to the announcement of Red Dead Redemption on PS5 and Nintendo Switch, fans were expecting a much bigger project. Years-long rumours claimed that the game would have the entire original game remade in its sequel’s engine. That is not the case.

When the re-release does launch on new systems, it will come with the game’s huge DLC expansion Undead Nightmare. Additionally, the game will lack its original online component.

The lack of graphical additions for the Red Dead Remaster comes after years of the game being available in 4K on Xbox One X and Xbox Series X consoles. Furthermore, that version of the game still has support for the original online multiplayer.
