There's hundreds of options when it comes to gaming mice, but the Razer Viper V3 Pro might be one of the lightest, and fastest I've used in recent memory. The sleek build delivers a subtle device that feels comfortable to use, and it comes at a time where many third-party peripherals focus on style over substance.

While there's some minor grievances, such as the Razer Viper V3 Pro price landing at a steep $159, there's very little to dislike about the best Razer mouse in years.

The first thing that may surprise you upon opening up the box to your new peripheral is the fact that the Razer Viper V3 Pro doesn't have much, if anything, going on. The sleek black shell hides two buttons on the side, a DPI/Power switch on the underside and... that's pretty much it. There's no Razer logo with flashy lights shining through, or any major gimmicks. In fact, it's fairly simple overall.

However, that's likely to help with bringing the weight down, as the Razer Viper V3 Pro feels like you're gaming on air. It effortlessly glides across mousepads as it delivers a comfortable peripheral that offers performance over anything else. It's all substance over style with the Viper V3 Pro, but that doesn't make it any less fantastic.

The ergonomic body feels easy to use for long gaming sessions, adding to the comfortability alongside the almost-weightless experience. Underneath, the simplicity continues, with only one button that doubles as a DPI switch and a Power button, while there's two large feet for extra assistance when gliding the mouse across your desk. However, it's not like it really needs them anyway.

However, the true beauty lies within. The Viper V3 Pro uses Razer's new Focus Pro 35k optical sensor, allowing for a maximum DPI of 35,000. The sensor also comes with two new features for Razer, one of which lets you choose the DPI in increments of one, which is definitely overkill for most people, while the second feature lets you calibrate the Viper V3 Pro to match your old gaming mouse, giving you the same sensitivity and making it easy to swap to your new Viper.

The mouse comes bundled with Razer's HyperSpeed dongle, allowing you to wirelessly connect the Viper V3 Pro with a 2.4GHz connection. Unfortunately, there's no Bluetooth option, meaning you can only use the Viper with a wired connection, or alongside the dongle. Unfortunately, you can't buy the mouse without the dongle either.

Despite the wireless connection, the Razer Viper V3 Pro can max out at a massive 8,000 Hz polling rate for exceptionally fast response times. Unfortunately, the higher the polling rate, the quicker the battery drains. You can get up to 95 hours out of the Viper if you stick with 1,000 Hz, but the middle ground of 4,000 Hz and the huge 8,000 Hz drains the battery within 40 hours and 17 hours respectively.

While you're unlikely to use the mouse for 17-hour long sessions at a time, this is pretty mediocre compared to other options on the market. However, most people will unlikely need the full 8,000 Hz polling rate, and with anything from 1,000 to 4,000 fitting many of your needs.

I used the mouse in plenty of games, from simple titles like Dragon's Dogma 2, all the way to competitive titles like Valorant and Modern Warfare 3. I found the performance to be exceptional, and it actually improved my sniper abilities tenfold thanks to the lightning-fast sensor hiding within. The lightweight build and ergonomic design made it easier than ever to win intense firefights, and it's truly sold me on going for a light FPS mouse over more buttons like the ASUS ROG Spatha X.

Unfortunately, nothing is perfect. While the so-so battery life may disappoint quite a few people, I have no doubt the most disappointing factor for you will be crawling through Razer Synapse. To make any adjustments to the mouse, including change the DPI profiles or calibrating the sensitivity, you'll need Synapse, and its a clunky piece of software that can be tedious to use. Hopefully, if you're like me, you can set up the features and forget about it.

However, don't let that take you away for what is easily one of the best gaming mice I've ever used. The slick design keeps things simple. No flashy RGB, no unnecessary gimmicks, just a comfortable gaming mouse that glides effortlessly, and features an incredible performance. The price might be high, but it feels like an exceptional mouse that I'd recommend to anyone looking for the highest performance in their gaming sessions.
