Sony has shared the official teardown video for the PS5, giving fans an "up-close and personal" look at the brand new console which is launching next month.

Due to enter the gaming marketplace with both a Standard Edition and a Digital Edition in November 2020, Sony's PlayStation 5 will face stiff competition from the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, which launch a week earlier. What did we learn from the PS5 teardown video?

If you're wondering what exactly was new information in this video, Sony has handily provided an official blog post which breaks down the key learnings from this video - you can click here to read that blog!

"In this teardown video of the PS5 console, you will be able to see how we have thoughtfully integrated our technology into this console," Sony says in the blog.

The blog continues: "We felt it was inevitable to make a generational leap in terms of performance in order to deliver a new, next-generation gaming experience. However, to do so, we had to balance every aspect of the system, from focusing on reducing the noise level to enhancing the cooling capacity, more than ever before.

"We’ve also highlighted the mechanism in the video below that we’ve incorporated into the PS5 console to make the operating sounds even quieter. After an extensive and complex trial and error process, we were pleased with the end result and I can not wait for our fans to get their hands on the PS5 console and “hear” it for themselves."

The blog ends with a stark warning against taking apart your own PS5, when it arrives: "Do not try this at home. Risk of exposure to laser radiation, electric shock, or other injury. Disassembling your PS5 console will invalidate your manufacturer’s guarantee." So consider yourself warned!
