Since the DualSense controller first launched in November, fans have been wondering when the PS5 controller black release date will be.

When Sony revealed both the PS5 and the PS5 controller, fans had mixed feelings about the colour scheme. Featuring a two-tone black-and-white aesthetic, the PS5 deviated from the all-black design of previous PlayStation consoles.

We were pretty confident that Sony will eventually launch both a black PlayStation 5 console and a black DualSense controller. After all, by the time the PS5 was revealed, the PS4 came in a variety of colours, as did the DualShock 4 controller.

And now, Sony has finally revealed the PS5's colour variants - the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red DualSense.

So, here's all we know about the black PS5 controller's release date.

When will the PS5 controller release in black?

The Midnight Black and Cosmic Red DualSense will both release in June 2021, according the PlayStation Blog post. The PlayStation site itself lists these as 'Coming Soon'.

With Sony's priority right now on simply getting as many PlayStation 5's (to players as possible, the production focus will currently be on the classic black-and-white console rather than anything new. Stock shortages have plagued the PS5 since it first released. This means there are still countless prospective PS5 owners who would settle for any PS5.

However, it seems these stock shortages do not apply to the PS5's controller.
