Months after Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden hit digital storefronts, the two hit JRPGs are now getting limited physical releases from Limited Run Games. While the move is exciting, this does make us wonder why these two games didn’t get regular physical releases, since they would have sold well.

Limitied Run Games has announced three new physical versions of Persona 3 Portable, with pre-orders starting on September 29 and ending on November 12. A standard physical release coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, and the Grimoire Edition which has a few extras and is priced at $70. There’s also a more expensive S.E.E.S. edition at $199.99, which comes with all of the extras you would expect.

At the time of writing, there are still no details on the physical release of Persona 4 Golden. Pre-orders will start on October 27, so expect another standard release and a ridiculously expensive collector’s edition that will come with a lot of goodies.

Interestingly enough, the last time these two JRPGs got a physical release, they were for Sony’s now-defunct handheld systems. Persona 3 Portable came out on the PlayStation Portable, while Persona 4 Golden was a Vita game and is considered the handheld’s best title.

Prior to Limited Run Games stepping in, the only title in the modern trilogy to get a physical release was Persona 5 Royal. Admittedly, fans had been demanding for this title to come out on Xbox and Switch, so the move made sense. However, P3 and P4 still have their own set of fans, so a physical release wouldn’t have hurt.

While we see the Switch version selling well, fans may want to pick up the Xbox One release of these titles. Microsoft actually optimized both P3P and P4G, so it looks much better than the PS4 and Switch versions.
