Payday 3 has been a mess since its release, with many fans going back to its predecessor just to get a semblance of fun from the concept. After a few delays, Starbreeze has finally released the 1.01 update, claiming that this has finally fixed the multiplayer shooter for everyone.
Starbreeze released the patch notes on Steam, where it’s shown to be a decent 2 GB, which isn’t too much. The studio actually said “We’re finally up and running as things should be!” so that’s a good indication as any whether they knew how bad the launch was.
“After some instability, we’re finally up and running as things should be! Heisters heisting, civilians screaming and cops floundering! We’ve got a lot more cooking, keep letting us know when you find bugs and sending us your suggestions!” said Starbreeze.
Hopefully, this will be the end of any major issues plaguing Payday 3, especially since this series has such a passionate fanbase. Considering just how extensive the patch notes are, it’s clear that the developers did take the botched launch very seriously.
The PS5 version of this shooter also launched with many issues and was deemed unplayable at one point. Now that the game has a major patch, all players can do is hope the version they bought is now playable.
When Payday 3 launched due to a number of bugs and server issues, fans quickly went back to its acclaimed predecessor until things were fixed. At one point, its predecessor actually has more players, which is understandable since no one wants to go through a buggy mess to play with friends.
It is somewhat ironic that fans went back to Payday 2, as the devs actually made that game free to hype up the third game. Given the backlash to Payday 3’s launch, it’s almost like the devs made Payday 2 free as an “I owe you” to the player base, though we know that isn’t the case.
