How To Fix The "Disconnected From Game Server" Error On Overwatch 2
If you're getting the LC-202 error, then there are a few possible fixes to resolve the problem:
- Start by checking your network configuration to ensure that your Firewall isn't inadvertently causing issues with the connection to the Overwatch 2 servers.
- Restart your device, and restart your router as well.
- Make sure your internet conenction is working properly. run through the usual troubleshooting steps - if you're using WiFi, try to minimise the distance between the router and your device. Close any other bandwidth-heavy apps or devices to reduce traffic on the network. Run a speed test, to make sure you are getting the speeds you should be. And if possible, switching to a wired connection will improve stability.
- You can also run a network diagnostic test using a tool called Looking-Glass. Blizzard offers a more detailed explanation here.
If none of the above steps works, then consider uninstalling and reinstalling the game as a last resort. If that doesn't work, contact Blizzard Support for further help.
As an alternative, and given that is predominantly a console-related issue, you can try contacting your console manufacturer via their support pages. For Sony, visit PlayStation Support, Nintendo Support is here, and Xbox Support is here.
What Is The Overwatch 2 LC-202 Error?
As you may have figured out from the solutions that we've highlighted above, the Overwatch 2 LC-202 error is caused when your game loses connection to the server. It's an error that we've seen before with the original Overwatch, and seems to be most prevalent on consoles.
It's not immediately obvious why the connection has failed, but there's a possibility that, with Overwatch 2 being a new game, the servers are simply struggling to cope with the volume of traffic, as players scramble to try the game for themselves.

If that is indeed the reason for this issue, then the chances are it will resolve itself eventually, as traffic begins to stabilise on Overwatch 2, and more servers are brought online to meet demand.
Of course, if this is indeed the underlying cause of the issue, then you might find that trying to play the game at off-peak times may also make a difference. Failing that though, the steps we outlined above are your best chance of getting past LC-202, and sampling the delights of Overwatch 2.
