News so rarely comes out of anything other than leaks these days.

Well, in yet another one, we've discovered that there's going to be a new Oculus Quest.

The Oculus Quest 2 was revealed via some promotional videos that were posted accidentally, and now gotten a proper look at both it and what it's going to include.

So, here's everything you need to know about the Oculus Quest 2 ahead of the full reveal on Wednesday at 10 AM PT.

Oculus Quest 2 specs

The specs of the Oculus Quest 2 are pretty impressive, and see it getting a substantial boost in basically every area of the original Quest.

Here are the numbers we know so far:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 processor
  • 6GB RAM
  • Nearly 2K resolution per eye
  • 64 GB or 256GB of built-in storage

Oculus Quest 2 features

The Oculus Quest 2 will have redesigned controllers for better ergonomics as well as 3D positional audio, which should make it an even more impressive piece of tech than the original headset.

Of course, there's also the feature that requires you to have a Facebook login as we see the Oculus logins phased out. That's not a good one though, and a lot of people have issues with it due to Facebook's history of less than stellar data control.

Oculus Quest 2 release date

While there's no official release date ahead of the event tomorrow, we can probably expect to see the headset in the next six months or so.

There's an argument to be made about how wise it is to release new technology at the same time we hit a new console generation and see a bunch of new GPUs, but we're not going to make it.

Oculus Quest 2 price

In terms of price, there was a screenshot uploaded of Target's prices. It seems to show the 64GB version only costing $299 and the 256GB version costing $399.

If this is true, it makes it one of the cheapest VR headset launches since the introduction of the platform, and that's quite exciting.
