How to buy games on Oculus Quest

Buying games on an Oculus device is a relatively simple procedure. Here's what you need to do:

  • Press the Oculus button to bring up the menu
  • Select the Oculus Store icon
  • Find the game/app you want to purchase
  • Click on the price to buy the game/app

If you don't fancy searching for games in VR, you can also download games via the Oculus app on your phone. Once you have downloaded the app, select the Store icon at the bottom and get searching for the games you want and click on the price to buy it. The game should then start downloading on your Oculus Quest.

It's also worth noting that you will need to input your payment method to buy games on the Oculus Quest, which we'd strongly recommend doing via the Oculus mobile app to save you any hassle in VR.

If your game or application does not download, check the Not Installed section of your library, to see if the download is ongoing or if it has yet to begin.

If you're wanting to play the likes of Half-Life Alyxon your Oculus Quest 2, you, unfortunately, cannot without a high-end gaming PC and a rather expensive cable, or through sideloading.

What games should I buy on Oculus Quest?

While the Oculus Quest library is stacked with high-quality titles, it may be slightly daunting when opening the Store for the first time, and so you might want a few pointers over what games to buy.

We'd strongly recommend grabbing VRChatand Rec Room, as these two games are both free and offer some pretty great social VR experiences, alongside a few unique VR minigames.

Beat Saber is a must-havefor any Oculus Quest owners. This rhythm game almost single-handedly carried VR in its early years and has continued to thrive in the 2020s, with further support coming in the form of content packs. If you want a Beat Saber-like game, except with guns, we'd suggest you check out Pistol Whip, a VR title that commonly is described as making you feel like John Wick. Oh, and Superhot VR.

In terms of single-player narrative-driven games, Vader Immortal and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners offer unique gameplay experiences that you cannot really get anywhere else.

That's just the tip of the Virtual Reality iceberg, too. There are countless other games on the Oculus Quest you should try, including The Climb, Job Simulator and Population: One. It's a great time to be getting into VR.
